‘America’s Newsroom’ No. 4 TV Program by Watch-Time
Welcome to our weekly snapshot of TV by the numbers, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks for January 13-19, with insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).
With a week that included the Supreme Court’s upholding of the U.S. TikTok ban, inauguration preparations, Senate cabinet confirmation hearings, ongoing wildfires in California and more, multiple news programs saw viewership shares increase compared to the previous week. Fox News benefitted in particular, with multiple programs rising in the ranking week-over-week. America’s Newsroom was at the forefront, taking fourth place (up from No. 12 previously) with 0.84% of watch-time. But even increased news tune-in couldn’t dethrone sports, which take the first three ranking positions. The NFL playoffs far exceed any other program’s watch-time, snagging a 12.55% viewership share, up from 8.79% the previous week.
A few more insights from the week’s most-watched TV programming:
Men’s college basketball takes second place, although its 1.41% viewership share was a slight decrease from the previous week (1.43%).
On the other hand, the NBA jumps up from tenth to third place, with its watch-time growing from 0.70% previously to 0.95%.
All of the Fox News programs on the chart increased their positions compared to the previous week, and the network also had two week-over-week ranking newcomers: Special Report With Bret Baier (at No. 20, up from No. 27 previously) and Outnumbered (at No. 25, up from No. 37).
Additional week-over-week ranking newcomers include Postseason NFL Countdown (No. 15) the Australian Open (No. 16) and The Story With Martha MacCallum (No. 19).
