With Zelenskyy Interview, ‘60 Minutes’ Cracks Top 25 Most-Watched Programs
Welcome to our weekly snapshot of TV by the numbers, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks for September 11-17, with insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).
For the first time in 2023, 60 Minutes made its way into the weekly ranking of top 25 programs by watch-time. The season 56 premiere on September 17, featuring an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, captured a 0.37% viewership share, landing at No. 23 for the week. That’s higher than recent previous episodes, but not quite what the season 55 premiere in September 2022 (with U.S. President Joe Biden) snagged: 0.42%.
Some additional insights about the top programming on TV:
Unsurprisingly, NFL and college football take first and second place, respectively — although both had a slightly lower viewership share week-over-week: NFL was down to 8.01% from 8.59% previously, while college football slipped from 5.82% to 5.69%.
Major League Baseball moves from No. 16 to No. 8 with a 0.62% viewership share.
Thanks to rerun marathons on TBS, The Big Bang Theory rockets into the ranking at No. 9 with 0.57% of minutes watched.
Additional week-over-week ranking newcomers include Chicago Fire (No. 12) and The Golden Girls (No. 24).
